Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) whether he thought Obama was trying to destroy the country.\u00a0 Coburn&#8217;s answer:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No, I don\u2019t .\u2009.\u2009. He\u2019s a very bright man. But think about his life. And think about what he was exposed to and what he saw in America. He\u2019s only relating what his experience in life was. .\u2009.\u2009. His intent isn\u2019t to destroy. It\u2019s to create dependency because it worked so well for him. I don\u2019t say that critically. Look at people for what they are. Don\u2019t assume ulterior motives. I don\u2019t think he doesn\u2019t love our country. I think he does.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As an African American male, coming through the progress of everything he experienced, he got tremendous benefit through a lot of these programs. So he believes in them. I just don\u2019t believe they work overall and in the long run they don\u2019t help our country. But he doesn\u2019t know that because his life experience is something different. So it\u2019s very important not to get mad at the man. And I understand, his philosophy \u2014 there\u2019s nothing wrong with his philosophy other than it\u2019s goofy and wrong [laughter] \u2014 but that doesn\u2019t make him a bad person.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Tulsa World reporter asked Sen.
