Doctors and nurses stared at each other, stunned.<\/p>\n<p>And, as he stood at his wife\u2019s bedside and looked into the eyes of his newborn child for the first time, new father Francis Tshibangu\u2019s joy turned to disbelief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was clutching Arlette\u2019s hand as they lifted Daniel from her,\u201d Francis says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was covered in blood\u2026 but then I saw his skin was white and his hair was blond. My jaw dropped open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a million-to-one quirk of nature, Francis and Arlette, who have no white relations, had given birth to a white baby.<\/p>\n<p>The genetic mix-up has baffled experts, who say Daniel is NOT an albino with no skin pigment \u2013 not to mention the parents, who already have a two-year-old black son, Seth. Francis adds: \u201cMy first thought was \u2018Wow, is he really mine?\u2019 \u201cI was too stunned to speak and I could see the doctors \u00adlooking at each other, thinking the baby couldn\u2019t be mine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen Arlette and I looked at each other and smiled and I knew he was. \u201cI have been with my wife for three years so there was never a question of \u00adinfidelity, but seeing his white skin was a surprise to say the least.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday MIRROR &#8211; The bustling operating theatre fell silent.
